Down a slithering path our cars were stopped by a pleasantly cheery man guarding the plant. After verifying ourselves we made our entry and parked by the outmost fence. We were instructed to head towards a stand-alone structure. Once inside three representatives of Alliant greeted us. After a flurry of handshakes and introductions we made our way to the tables.
The lead operator of the plant then put on a PowerPoint presentation about the complexity of the process of the plant in order to produce energy. It was surprising how much it took to provide the energy used by our light bulbs in our home or even on the computer we're using to read a post on a website.
A tour of the actual plant followed the presentation. Hard hats and safety glasses all around! Tailing the lead operator we were able to experience the massive plant from the inside out, hiking a copious amount of stairs and elevators to each check point.
When the tour was over we headed back to the meeting structure once again. This time an executive showed us how Alliant operated on the business side. Finally the content taught in our classes made sense when they were explained practically. Our members engaged Alliant's representatives with questions and concerns as the representatives appeased them one by one.
Before ending the visit Alliant's marketing executive challenged us with an exercise of the mind. She showed us a possible commercial for Alliant and had us inspect it for flaws and practical improvements. Zeta Omicron left Lansing both physically and mentally primed. Thank you for such an invigorating visit, Alliant.
