TOSS FOR A CAUSE

Dr. Newberry (Marketing Department Chairperson) approached Winona State's American Marketing Association and Pi Sigma Epsilon to host a charity event. A children's hospital, nay THE children's hospital. The International Health Partner's Children's Refferal Hospital to be exact. IHP-TZ serves as the only children's referral hospital in Tanzania, while other children's hospital exist there this is the only one that will take on serious cases. It currently doubles as a training ground for other hospitals in the area.

It was decided that the chairty will be guise as a bags/cornhole tournament between the two organization, AMA and PSE. Fortunately the concept was simple. We asked that the community would build a team, raise some cash, throw some bags; that's it.

We wanted to excite people so we figured why not go for a world record in the mean time. 36 hours of restless bags/cornhole. No breaks within the game, only personel could be subbed out when there were registered players and teams. The community rallied behind us: THE WINONAN

Community leaders came to toss a bag or two, companies sponsored the event, and students cheered from the sidelines of the New Somsen Engagement Center.

Support came from every direction and made the event a huge success. The two teams with well over 3,000 points came to an intense final showdown with the margin settling at less than 20. With determination and caffiene AMA walked away with the title leaving PSE in awe.

Although the points favored only one team both teams were estatic to report over $2200 in donated funds!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all those who dedicated them time and other resources to make such a great thing happen.

Although the event is over, International Health Partners TZ still needs your support.
